Blackjack The Magical Morgan Horse published by Willow Bend Publishing is about a little girl, Holly, who wishes for a horse of her very own. One day as she is drawing she draws a picture of her dream horse, a beautiful black, Morgan horse, who she names Blackjack. As she sleeps stardust falls through her bedroom window and onto her crayon drawing. That is when the magic happens! All of the sudden Blackjack comes to life. Holly awakens and is so very happy. That is until the cat scares Blackjack and he goes flying out the window. The next morning is Holly’s birthday. Holly’s mom has a huge surprise for her. What will it be. This book is a beautiful hard-cover book. It retails for $17.95. There are 32 pages in the book.

This whimsical book is perfect for homeschool, library, home, or a school setting. The book is written at about a first-grade reading level. This would be a wonderful book to read aloud to younger children as well. My daughter who is 10 years old enjoyed reading the book.

I liked the book and so did my daughters. Even though they are older than the suggested age they love horses and so wanted to read it. The illustrations are amazing and really add to the story. Most little girls and boys too, love horses and will find this book exciting. At the end of the book is a section entitled, Did You Know, which gives interesting facts about Morgan horses.

My 12-year-old daughter said, “What little girl doesn’t wish to wake up and have a horse standing by her bedside! And better yet. What little girl doesn’t wish for a horse for her birthday again and again, year after year. Getting a horse of your very own is like a dream come true.”

I would definitely recommend this book to others.
