Peg Loom: Weaving for Beginners Review by Kate KesslerMontessori Services

Santa Rosa, CA 95401
It is so nice to work with an excellent product made for children. So many companies just skimp on quality, but the Peg Loom that Montessori Services offers on their website is superior in many ways.
The kit includes 100% pure wool yarn in bright beautiful colors, white cotton string to "warp" your loom, a long plastic needle for weaving, easy-to-follow directions, and of course the sturdy wooden weaving loom. The loom has slanted nylon pegs to hold the yarn securely in place for your little weaver so slipping will not be a recurring problem.
Getting started is simple though if your beginner has never used a loom before (or can not yet read) you will want to supervise. The directions are straightforward and are depicted in words and pictures. There are several crafts to choose from: a wall-hanging, a purse, a pillow, and even animal pictures if you really get crafty. This is a wonderful hands-on activity to get their little fingers working while they listen to a story, just for fun on a rainy day, or it would make a perfect activity for a long car ride. My daughter chose a purse for her first project and she was so pleased with her work. She was excited to see her purse come together right before her eyes by the work of her own hands.
Montessori Services offers many hands-on activities like the Peg Loom to stimulate little minds and abilities. This is one of the best!
