Anni Zola--My Story (enhanced CD) Review by Stephanie D. Scarborough

Generation Z, LLC
http://www.annizola.com

"Anni Zola--My Story" is a multi-media, enhanced CD that features a "hip virtual teenage pop star" who is "vigilant about environmental and social causes." The CD has four songs interwoven with three short stories in audio book format. It also includes a music video preformed by Anni Zola. The target audience is children 8 to 15 years old. The anime art form combined with the clean song lyrics is a welcome change to what is normally available to the tween scene. However, parents should view the website to see if the popular dress style, dancing, and themes are appropriate for your child.

Anni Zola is a teenager from a fictional planet who blogs and tweets about her concerns and point of view on saving the planet, volunteerism, being responsible, and being tolerant. I realize this is fiction, but this intertwining of the real life call to action without clear delineations of each was unsettling. I found myself concerned with the concept of a Utopian type society being within our reach, as it is not in line with the Christian viewpoint. However, I do agree we need to make careful choices to preserve what God has given us and to have personal responsibility for our actions.
