Barker Creek Products Review by Jennifer Pepito, and 3 moreE-Race Away
DRAW WRITE NOW
The publishers of "Draw Write Now" have come up with another winner. The E-Race Away dry erase boards are a tough yet lightweight board perfect for writing and drawing around the house, in the car, anywhere! Made of the same material that makes Formula One race cars so light, I found them a major improvement over my old placemats. They were always peeling or the pen would not erase. These are great -- there is even a magnetic one you could use with the "Kidmagnets". Our favorite is the manuscript board featuring lower case on one side and upper case on the other. Superb quick and easy way to reinforce letter sounds, as well as rejuvenating our writing practice.

More info about Barker Creek:
I was able to meet one of the authors of Barker Creek's Draw*Write*Now program at a recent convention. Kim Stitzer is a delightful and enthusiastic woman and I enjoyed our animated conversation. The products that they put out are of such excellent quality; they obviously know children and care to provide materials that are fun and will last. I love the magnetic kid boards and often find my three and six year olds "playing school" with letters and pictures for sounds. They like being able to hold the tray up and not have all the pieces fall off. I plan on packing this kit (and some of their math and geography sets) for a fourteen hour car ride we take every summer to Oregon. I can see lots of fun hours of play and learning taking place across the miles.

DRAW WRITE NOW
Well, now I understand why the Barker Creek, Draw Write Now series is such an amazing success! I was thrilled (and honored!) to finally meet the incredible creator, Kim Stitzer, at a recent homeschool convention. Kim is SO funny and animated, she literally had Diane Wheeler (our senior staff writer) and me utterly in stitches. It was clear why Draw Write Now is such a blast! ...It's because its fun and totally dedicated author SHINES through. What a fun lady! If you are lacking zest and excitement in your school day, consider teaching art classes using Draw Write Now. My kids, and husband who teaches it, LOVE it! It was a pleasure meeting you Kim, and I am excited to see more of your great work in the future.

Barker Creek, the publishers of "Draw Write Now" has come out with a wonderful new resource for your preschool and elementary students. Kidmagnets are durable, flat magnets (harder for babies to pry off and stuff under the fridge) with different educational themes. My preschool and first grade students have been learning and having fun with the "A-Z Pictures" and "Magnetic Alphabet." We match the picture to the sound, something they are motivated to do independently, and later we will use them to practice sounding out and spelling for students whose writing skills have not caught up to their phonemic awareness. Having a student who struggles with writing coordination, I am excited to have Kidmagnets to reinforce phonics in a tactile way while other skills are developing. Kidmagnets also come in numbers, a color coded grammar pack and many more.
