A Christian homeschooling family can never have enough devotional books! The Big Book of Bible Truths, 1 and 2 are wonderful recent additions to our family collection. I'd say they're for ages six and up; I've been reading them to my nine-year-old, and they're just right for her. Each story has an interesting "hook" that relates to a Bible truth, along with a Bible passage to read, and a prayer at the end which wraps up the theme. The stories have simple black-and-white illustrations.

I like these books. They're very interesting yet also substantial; the stories don't talk down to the child. Each book contains a wide variety of Bible truths. Book 1 seems to be mainly about living the Christian life, while Book 2 is who God is and His plan for salvation. Children could read them alone for devotions, or parents can use them for family devotions. They'll be well used either way, and you will have lots to talk about with your children. Thank God for faithful pastors who produce theologically rich materials for children as well as adults!
