A is for Axel Review by Lisa Barthuly & Family

World Champion skater, Kurt Browning has traded in his skates for a pen in this new book, A is for Axel. This title is an oversized, 26 page, hardcover book, with colorful illustrations (although some clothing in the book, like the outfits of real female professional skaters, does not fall into the 'modest' category). This book is entertaining and educational, especially if you have a child with an interest in ice skating!

Mr. Browning writes a short rhyme for each letter of the alphabet, such as :

B is for Boot,
And B is for Blade.
Put them together and a skate is made.

He then shares in the sidebar of each page, a wealth of information on skating, in more detail. This book is very informative for the youngster interested in skating or for someone who appreciates the sport.

Although we found this interesting (with most of the illustrations very beautifully done), the list price of $17.95 seemed a bit steep for this family.
