What Really Happened During the Middle Ages Review by Lisa Barthuly & FamilyCompiled by Terri Johnson

What Really Happened During the Middle Ages is a wonderful collection of historical biographies. This, over 200 page, softcover gem, is geared at ages 8 or so and up! Everyone in our family loves History, so this was right up our alley!
This book tells the tales of such people as: Martin Luther, St. Patrick, Joan of Arc, Johann Gutenberg, Empress Theodora, and more! What Really Happened During the Middle Ages is written by a variety of authors, and compiled by Terri Johnson of Knowledge Quest Maps (so you know you are going to have great maps & timelines in this book too!!). They are well written stories that spark your interest from the beginning along with very nice black and white illustrations. This is the first in a four part series, and we can't wait to read the rest of the series!
We love living books for history education! This is a book that shares not only the interesting stories and events of the lives of these seemingly ordinary people who were used by God to accomplish extraordinary things during their times, but also shares their character and determination!
What Really Happened During the Middle Ages is a wonderful family read-aloud book, that is engaging and interesting. This book is age appropriate in its content, and fills a gap of much needed quality historical biographies for the Middle Ages.
Recommendation? Absolutely! We loved What Really Happened During the Middle Ages!
