My Father's World Review by Gretchen Nutter

This summer we spent a lot of time looking for a Bible centered curriculum. I was amazed at some of the options we were able to find. One that really stood out is My Father's World. This is a fairly new curriculum that incorporates real books and multi-level unit study style learning. They offer curriculum choices for preschool-sixth grade. The preschool package is wonderful. The toys included are manipulatives that teach many small motor skills, but are entertaining at the same time - something to keep those little ones occupied while you work with the older kids! I have already decided that this is what our toddler will be getting as a back-to-school present! The lesson plans are so well thought out that even the new homeschool mom will feel at ease. A sample lesson plan for kindergarten is available online. My son is 11 so we are primarily interested in the package for older children. The first volume of this just came out this fall. The multi-level teacher's guide is for use with second through sixth grade. This unit study covers geography (which will be followed by history next year), science, art, and music. You add math and language arts. The best part is that the books they have chosen to use in this curriculum are already homeschool favorites. Christian Heroes Then and Now, which is included in the deluxe package, is an awesome collection of stories about people of great faith. You will still want to add a few library books, especially for the avid reader. The basics are well provided for with the books that are included in the basic or deluxe package. Anyone who enjoys unit studies, but would like to have everything pre-planned and ready to use, should definitely give this curriculum company a look! I think we will be hearing a lot of good things about it this coming year!
