The Four Pillars of The Old Schoolhouse®

Homeschooling’s Trade Magazine Celebrates Twenty Years

When Paul & Gena Suarez began publishing The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine two decades ago, they based it on their foundational faith in Jesus Christ. For twenty years, their supreme goal has been to bring glory to God in all of their business and ministry endeavors.

In celebration of the publication’s twentieth anniversary, the creative team at The Old Schoolhouse® has unveiled four pillars that represent the company’s core principles and ethics. The four pillars are Faith, Knowledge, Hope, and Future. They are depicted by colorful icons that readers can discover within the magazine and across the many platforms of TOS.

“The four pillars are a new feature at The Old Schoolhouse®,” explained Gena Suarez, “but the values they represent have been at the heart of everything we have done to help homeschooling families since 2001. For twenty years and counting our team has been building on faith, blossoming in knowledge, blessing others with hope, and believing the future will be bright for a family that builds their home upon faith in Jesus.”

The TOS Pillars outline the following four beliefs of The Old Schoolhouse® publishers, faculty, and staff:

FAITH: We believe education is our God-given right, with a foundation built on faith. The Old Schoolhouse® is a decidedly faith-based Christian organization.

KNOWLEDGE: We believe training children in knowledge of their Creator is paramount. The Old Schoolhouse® supports parents who embrace this God-given responsibility of education.

HOPE: We believe the hope of the world is Christ Himself. The Old Schoolhouse® offers hope to homeschooling families who in turn raise children who offer hope to their world.

FUTURE: We believe Christian homeschooled children are the hope of the future. The Old Schoolhouse® comes alongside homeschool families to offer help in educating future leaders.

These four pillars support all the platforms of The Old Schoolhouse®, including its famous trade magazine; its weekly eNewsletter, The Homeschool Minute; and its full-curriculum website, SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

As Paul Suarez reflects on the first twenty years of The Old Schoolhouse® he marvels at how God has used it to bless thousands of families around the world. “Gena and I give all the glory to God, and we look forward to where He will lead in the next decade.”
