Lessons Learned from the Great Resignation and the Great Outdoors

There’s never been a better time for families to homeschool

GRAY, Tenn. - March 1, 2022 - PRLog -- What do the “Great Resignation” and the great outdoors have in common? They both benefit families desiring to work and learn from home.

Consider this staggering recent statistic: “Through November 2021, an average of more than 3.9 million workers quit their jobs each month,” states the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM.org). Unprecedented and intriguing, the times we’re living in will go down in history for many reasons, including this Great Resignation. As workers walk out of their employers’ doors a final time, however, they may be opening doors to entrepreneurship.

Parents who choose to work from home find themselves in the perfect place to teach their children. “The flexibility of entrepreneurship partners well with home education,” said Gena Suarez, who is herself both an entrepreneur and a homeschooling parent. She and her husband, Paul, started The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine over two decades ago and continue to help homeschool families around the world thrive through their quarterly publication. “Homeschooled children receive more than a typical education when their parents work as entrepreneurs. They witness and understand the ins and outs of business. This is life-skills training at its finest,” Suarez encouraged.

Families may be opening doors and heading outside more frequently too. While the great outdoors is nothing new, today’s families may be rediscovering the benefits of time spent in nature. “Nature studies are widespread among homeschoolers. Learning outdoors is memorable and refreshing,” added Suarez. “Today, some families even take their homes—and schools—on the road to spend more time learning outside and seeing our amazing country.”

Parents can explore features on entrepreneurship, nature studies, and even homeschooling from an RV, inside the pages of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine spring issue. This fresh issue is a resource for middle school math, career exploration, how to raise a grateful child, and more topics important to today’s families. The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine is in stores across the country now or may be ordered at www.GrabIssue.com.
