Homeschoolers Make History with First-Ever National Academic Homeschool Competition

Level I NAHC Results Announced and Virtual Competition Continues

GRAY, Tenn. – November 29, 2022 -- PRLog – A group of homeschooled teens from across the country have just made history as the first participants of the brand new National Academic Homeschool Competition (NAHC). The Old Schoolhouse® and the College Options Foundation teamed up to host the first virtual competition. The NAHC provides homeschooled students ages 12–18 the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test nationally. Level I of the three-part virtual competition is in the books, and the results have been announced. The competition leaderboard is on display at https://nationalacademicbowl.com/organization/nahc/leaderboard.

“Congratulations to every NAHC participant for completing Level I. The Old Schoolhouse® is pleased to promote excellence in home education in a new way through this opportunity with the College Options Foundation,” said Gena Suarez of The Old Schoolhouse®. Parents are pleased, too, as the event is a chance to test for success and takes the pressure of the college process off their shoulders. “The NAHC truly serves students—and their parents,” explained Terry Wilfong of College Options Foundation. “Participating students receive free access to award-winning college success software. They have fun while focusing on science, math, and English. Plus the event reinforces their homeschool curriculum and improves their SAT and ACT scores.”

The competition is broken into three age divisions:

  • 12–14 year-olds
  • 15–16 year-olds
  • 17–18 year-olds

Divisions are calculated based on the student’s age on the first day of the competition. All students who registered for the NAHC participate in Levels I and II of the competition. Level II will be held February 1–15, 2023. The two test scores will be combined to identify the top performers in each age division who will then move on to the National Championship round, culminating in awards and prizes, to be held April 17–20, 2023. The entire competition is virtual.

“Homeschooling works, and hard work pays off,” added Suarez. “Stay tuned for championship results and more NAHC competitions in the future.”
