College of Lake County

The College of Lake County (CLC) is a comprehensive community college committed to equitable high-quality education, cultural enrichment and partnerships to advance the diverse communities it serves in northeastern Illinois. Offered at three campuses in Grayslake, Vernon Hills and Waukegan or online, college classes are affordable and accessible to help each student achieve academic, career and personal goals. More than 70,000 students graduated with degrees and certificates since the college opened in 1969.

Averaging 18 students per class, CLC offers 51 majors designed for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. A Guaranteed Transfer Admission Partnership allows qualified students to be admitted to at least 32 partner institutions. For those seeking a career in two years or less, nearly 40 programs offer degrees and certificates in business, technology, healthcare and more. Additionally, free Adult Basic Education is available.

Regardless of their focus, our programs emphasize academic excellence and concern with the individual student’s goals. Each semester CLC serves about 15,000 credit students, with more than 80 percent enrolled in transfer or career preparation programs. CLC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.

The college also provides economical training, consulting and cutting-edge courses for businesses, professionals and the community in five areas: Client Solutions, Construction Business Development Center, Illinois Small Business & International Trade Center and Professional Development.

CLC’s James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the Grayslake Campus offers a full calendar of professional touring entertainment events plus college music, theatre and dance presentations. The Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art offers eight diverse visual art exhibits per year. Additionally, the Lancer athletic teams compete in 12 intercollegiate sports.
