California University of Pennsylvania

California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U) is a mid-size public university near Pittsburgh that prepares students to stand out in a competitive job market, thrive in their chosen career, and make a difference in local and global communities.

To this end, the University offers over 100 undergraduate and more than 95 graduate programs of study in education, human services, the liberal arts, business, science, and technology.

Cal U supports students’ academic success through a variety of on-campus resources, including tutoring services, a mentorship program, and workshops. And the Four-Year Graduation Plan combines advising, priority registration, and individual attention to help students reach their academic goals on time.

The University’s programs place a particular emphasis on applied learning, which positions students of all ages and backgrounds for career success, whether they choose to study on campus or online.

Students have access to a variety of real-world experience, which contributes to personal growth and learning and builds their resumes. Depending on their major, students may be involved in fieldwork, research, laboratory work, clinical rotations, and/or student teaching. In addition, the Internship Center helps students connect with internships and cooperative education experiences that mesh with their major and support their career goals.

Cal U fields 18 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports teams: eight men’s and 10 women’s teams. Plus, there are over 100 clubs and organizations on campus that students can join—and each also offers leadership opportunities. Whether a student is interested in animation, archery, art, dance, economics, fitness, horses, horticulture, lacrosse, medieval reenactments, modern languages, robotics, the sciences, or wildlife, there’s something for them to get involved in.

Cal U is a proud member of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.
