I am an avid reader and therefore love books. However, it has been awhile since I have discovered a book that spoke to my heart as directly as Moms Raising Sons to Be Men, by Rhonda Stoppe. As a mom of three boys I covet wisdom from veteran moms. Rhonda Stoppe, a mom with over 20 years’ experience, is full of that very wisdom.
In Raising Sons to Be Men, Mrs. Stoppe shares her life lessons and journeys in this amazing book about raising boys. There were times while reading that I felt like she had an inside glance at my heart. She spoke directly into situations that I was currently experiences with my own boys. It was a balm of healing to my soul, as this mom who had been there, gave hope and encouragement!
Mrs. Stoppe begins this book with a look at motherhood from the perspective of moms in the Bible. From Sarah to Rachael to Mary the mother of Jesus, she explored the good the bad and the embarrassing. I found my heart convicted as I read the devious plots and schemes some of these moms used to manipulate situations. I found encouragement in the realization that no matter how bad I think that I have screwed things up, my Father in heaven is always there to forgive me. I was reminded that God has a great plan for my boys and that I get to be a part of it!
