We are a busy family, not by choice though. Several of my children are gifted in sports and are competitive athletes and with that comes sacrifices that we have made in pursuit of letting their God-given talents to shine through them. The world screams “Look at me!” put your trust and faith in me. This book screams back “Look to Jesus”!

I was so happy to get a copy of the 101 Devotions for Busy Families in my possession! This little book is chock full, well with 101, devotions drawing you and your family back to the Savior. I always have strived to incorporate some type of family devotions into our day but usually fell short and flat on my face after a few days or weeks. This book takes the guess work out of having family prayer and devotions each night.

The stories and observations provided in this small but mighty paperback book are both inspiring and thought provoking. They don’t take long to complete as each is just a page long, however, they will open up a world of discussion as you ponder the lesson of the day. Since the devotions are just a page long the print is rather small. I did not have any trouble with the print size but my husband did even with his reading glasses on. The devotions are divided up into five sections focusing on:

~ Building a legacy of faith
~ Strong character and tender hearts
~ Trusting God in difficult times
~ Abiding
~ A life of freedom and purpose

This book retails for just $12, and I personally think it is worth every cent. As a family, we have been working our way through this devotional three to four days a week. Mostly on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights after dinner. Instead of reading straight through I have elected to skip around the book reading on a loop schedule through all the sections mentioned above. I use a marker to mark the section we have read in the table of contents so I know exactly where we have left off. This has been working well for our family and we have had some great discussion times as a family as we draw into the Word.

Overall, this book may appear little but it packs a big punch in leading you to the Lord as a family. If you are having trouble sticking to a devotional or looking to incorporate one into your family time, Tom Frye has done a superb job with this devotional and I highly recommend it! Now that the Christmas season has arrived we have set this book aside for Advent, but I cannot wait to pick it back up after Christmas and dig back in where we left off!
