Atarax the Wolf Tells: Greek Myths for Children includes 10 Greek myth stories as told by Atarax the Wolf. The book begins with an introduction from Atarax. This introduction briefly explains about Ancient Greece and Greek Myths. Each story is only about 2-3 pages long and is then followed by 10 comprehension questions (most of which are multiple choice). There is an Answer Key provided in the back of the book.

Each story begins with an introduction paragraph that a little bit of background on each myth. You will recognize several titles (as did I), such as Hercules, Jason and the Golden Fleece, The Trojan Horse and Odysseus and the Cyclops.  Others may be less familiar, such as Orpheus, Icarus, Theseus, Persephone and The Hydra. A pronunciation guide might have been helpful for this book, however, as well as a glossary.  This book could be used as an independent study for older, more avid readers or could easily be enjoyed by younger children as a read aloud.  The stories are told in a way which easily captivates audiences of all ages.
