WriteAtHome is an online writing program that offers complete comprehensive writing courses for middle and high school students with an Annual Plan or 16-week Semester option. For just $129.00 and with just the use of your computer and the provided supplemental book, The Lively Art of Writing by Lucille Vaughn Payne, the student can learn the steps to writing great persuasive writing papers, particularly useful for college bound students.

Students are taught how to become great writers with the help of their personalized writing tutor. With detailed, one-on-one instruction your student will receive structured lessons and assignments with accountability and due dates. My 15-year-old freshman daughter is currently enrolled in the Essay 1 A La Carte workshop. Communication with her writing tutor has been a breeze! I can normally expect an answer to a question or concern within a few hours. She is given an assignment to complete and the due dates are on Thursdays, all though you can submit your work early if you would like. Papers are returned by Saturday and are filled with helpful corrections and notes from your tutor.

I have really enjoyed the whole process of setting up this writing class for my daughter. It is a thorough class that challenges her but yet is gentle and guides her along the way. The accountability built into the program is awesome. This course has definitely stepped up the writing expectations in our homeschool for the better. There are clear deadlines and if one is missed the writing tutor will reach out to the parent to make sure the student stays on track. My daughter has thus far seemed to enjoy the writing course also. Yes, I do have to remind her to get her assignments completed, but that comes with just being a newly turned 15-year-old high school freshman.  

I definitely have my eye on my daughter taking another course when this course is complete. The thoroughness and accountability alone make this class priceless for me. It helps me know that the bases for writing are being covered. I love this program and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable online writing program, so much so that I am going to enroll my struggling middle school writer into the April session of middle school classes.
