When I was eight years old, my mom and I would load up the kids in the stroller and take the mile-long walk to the local library. One time we started reading a book filled with Edgar Allan Poe's short stories. First, we read "The Tell-Tale Heart." Scared, yet eager for more, we read another: "The Pit and the Pendulum." It was then that my love/hate relationship began with Edgar Allan Poe.
I was absolutely THRILLED to be given the opportunity to go through a biography on Edgar Allan Poe put out by Lerner Publications, Biography®, and A&E®. This book is filled with pictures of Edgar Allan Poe, his friends and family, and even places that he lived.
The author, Tom Striessguth, wrote this book wonderfully. He included many details in Edgar Allan Poe's life and focused not only on Mr. Poe, but also on his other family members' lives, which makes it even more interesting.
Lerner Publications puts out other great books. "Multiplication" by Sheila Cato is on how to multiply and is very fun. Working In Sports and Recreation by Barbara Lee gives information on athletic and recreational careers.
Lerner Publications provides wonderful educational books for those of all ages that you are sure to enjoy!
