Advanced Multiplication, part of the Straight Forward Math Series, doesn’t teach multiplication, but it provides a terrific way to practice more complex multiplication problems. There is an assessment so you know where to start, and then you have your child work on some practice sheets and review sheets. You start wherever they need to. The first section involves problems that are either 2 digit x 1 digit, or 3 digit x 1 digit. The second section involves multiplying 2 or 3 digit numbers by 2 or 3 digit numbers.

At the end of each section, there is a diagnostic test, so you can be sure that you don’t need further review. At the completion of the book, there is another assessment test, allowing you to see how your child has progressed. I am quite impressed with how easy this is to use, and how well thought-out it is.

Pre-Calculus, part of the Straight Forward Math series, is a non-intimidating, paperback textbook. There are seven chapters, covering the topics common to all of the pre-calculus courses I’ve seen. Each section includes teaching materials with plenty of solid examples, and some problems to work out. At the end, there is a final assessment test. All answers are in the book. The material is solid, without extra fluff, and I am planning to purchase the Calculus materials.
