This unit on the wetlands comes on a CD. You can install the program to your computer or play it from the CD. Also on the CD are printable workbook materials, a teacher's manual with instructions and answers to the worksheets, a Student Field Guide, and a Student Study Guide.

The computer program is very user friendly. You can take a virtual tour of the wetlands, panning around the area 360 degrees and zooming in and out. You can look for the indigenous wildlife, and clicking on one of the animals, plants or insects will bring up another screen telling all about the life cycle of the animal and other information. Almost all words in the program can be clicked on for definitions, and you can click on another icon and have the word spoken aloud for you. Throughout, there are video clips, games, and quizzes. This software is produced by a Canadian company, and the wetland used for this study is the Algonquin Park in Ontario.

The little pop-up screen that shows the video clips is very small, and that would be one drawback. It would be nice if it were big enough to fill the entire screen of the computer.

This is a thorough study and would be wonderful combined with your life science curriculum or used in combination with other habitats in the Digital Field Trip series. I am looking forward to using this with my science curriculum in the spring semester this year. After a thorough examination of what is offered here, I can highly recommend this product to homeschoolers.
