Wise Words to Follow: Words of Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs has quickly become part of my kindergartener's daily lessons. This hardcover book contains selected proverbs from the Book of Proverbs as instruction for the preschool and early elementary child. Most two-page spreads in the book contain a specific proverb with its biblical reference in bold-faced type. Below it is a short discussion on the meaning of the particular proverb. On the adjacent page, a short prayer is provided on the topic being discussed.

I have found this text to be a wonderful devotional for the younger student to get his/her day off to a good start. This would also be a wonderful source for copywork for first and second grade students. The Bible verses on each page are in a font that is easy to read and, therefore, easy to copy. All of the verses contained in this little book are in the King James Version.

Wise Words to Follow has beautiful illustrations that are based on scenes from nature and younger children at play. In whole, the book is very tastefully done. There are 14 proverbs highlighted throughout the book. The format of the book would lend itself very well to reading and discussing a proverb on Monday, beginning memorization of the verse on Tuesday, copywork on Wednesday, additional memory practice on Thursday, and a final recitation for Dad on Friday.
