I am amazed. I am humbled. I am just downright in awe. Why? I have just been introduced to an outstanding musical homeschool family. One that is bubbling over with talent and love for the Lord. They are the Taubl Family; let me tell you more about them.

John and Carol have seven beautiful children. Every one of them sings wonderfully, as do their parents, but that's not all! Each of them play musical instruments as well. Some have even studied at Juilliard, played at Carnegie Hall, worked with Itzhak Perlman, and performed on a national radio program. Wow! Gretchen, Jack, and James play Viola, Emily and Samuel play Cello, Annabelle plays Harp, and Jeremiah is a Violinist. Of course, I must also mention Mom, (Carol) and her talent at the piano!

The Taubl Family travels around the country ministering to others through their music. As their voices and instruments blend together, people are often profoundly affected. The message of God's grace and provision is clearly portrayed through their gorgeous music. They are truly honoring Him with their gifts.

I was blessed with the opportunity to review some of the CDs that the Taubls have put together: Family Harmony, Annabelle's Harp, God Will Provide, and Classic. I must say that each of these CDs is very beautiful and uplifting. I honestly cannot offer any suggestions for improving upon such genuine ministry. Their instrumental abilities are very impressive, and the voices of the youngest children are sweet, but not "disgustingly cute" like some children's music I have heard. The Taubl children sound professional in every way.

If you are looking for songs about families, especially the kind of families who homeschool, you will appreciate the CD, Family Harmony. My favorite songs are "Practice, Practice, Practice", and "Count your blessings". They make me smile and think of the children's faces as they sing. I always find myself singing along with "All That I Need." It's very catchy!

The CD, Annabelle's Harp, showcases Annabelle Taubl and her harp in exquisite solo work. She plays lovely classical pieces that will soothe you and keep you inspired. Just what I need! It calms my children down, too. We like it for bedtime music.

Beautiful hymns as well as new favorites written by members of the Taubl family are featured in the CD, God Will Provide. The title song is a stirring account of Abraham's trust in God's provision as he prepared to sacrifice Isaac. "Promise Me Forever" is a song about a pledge of faithfulness while waiting for a future spouse. And there is no doubt that many hearts will be touched by "Hero", a tribute to the victims of September 11, 2001.

My favorite Taubl family CD is entitled Classic. Oh my, can this really be a handful of kids and their Mom playing? It seems like a famous chamber orchestral group. This is a classical music album of excellent quality and beautiful arrangements for cello, harp, viola, and piano. Also, in a perfectly charming rendition of "Road to Hamelin", Jack Taubl tells the story of the Pied Piper with musical accompaniment. My sons love that one!

You can read more of the Taubl Family's story in the Show and Tell section of the Fall 2005 issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. I am so glad to have been introduced to them, and I plan to order more copies to give as gifts. I encourage you to order some too and experience their talent for yourself. In addition, if you ever have the opportunity to attend one of their performances, don't pass it up! The Taubl family's music honors God and blesses all who hear.
