The Great Turning Point Review by Dr. Heather Allen

By: Terry Mortenson

Dr. Terry Mortenson, in his book, The Great Turning Point, clearly lays out the body of research that shows that Bible-believing scientists in Europe and America hundreds of years ago believed in a young-earth creationism. Young-earth creationism isn't a recent phenomenon that has come about in this century, but rather, there were "scriptural geologists" who did not accept that the earth was millions of years old even before Darwin published his famous book in 1859.

Dr. Mortenson provides the history that shows that church leaders 200 years ago were already ignoring or rejecting the young-earth arguments for the millions of years position of the secular scientists. This is a fascinating book, written at a very readable and understandable level, that should interest any individual who isn't firm in their position of a young earth creationism, or isn't comfortable defending their position relative to the millions of years position. Further, this is a book that would be a great gift for someone who might need help in understanding the importance of accepting a literal Genesis.

I recommend The Great Turning Point as an important addition to any family's library.
