From the first word of the first page to the last word of the last page, this book had me hooked. What an incredible story of love, faith, heartache, family, and enduring strength through it all. I never could guess what would happen next, and while I had ideas about the next logical piece of the puzzle, author Sally John masterly pulled the rug out from under me.

This story takes the reader through about 12 years of Rachel Koski’s life. The reader is provided a picture of Rachel’s life when she met her future husband and firefighter, Vic Koski. We journey with Rachel and her husband through their loving, happy marriage, her longing to become a mother, and the trials she was to face. The reader is also presented with an incredible witness to God’s faithfulness and grace, and a glimpse of how a person’s faith has far reaching consequences for others around him or her.

This is a story for anyone and everyone. This story propels the reader to seek out God’s truth, to understand that life has both ups and downs, but ultimately, through God’s grace, we will find joy and peace.

What a story. I found myself reading far into the night, four nights in a row, in my quest to find out what would happen next. This story was captivating and totally enjoyable. You’ll laugh and cry as you journey with Rachel, Vic, their family, and friends.

Please take time out to read In a Heartbeat. The time spent will be rewarding. Also, I know I will seek out more of Sally John’s books. She has just become one of my favorite Christian writers.
