As much as I enjoy listening to Adventures in Odyssey, I love seeing my children reading good books. Now, we can enjoy both at the same time with the publication of this wonderful new series of books from Focus on the Family and Tyndale. These historically accurate, Christian-based tales are designed for early elementary readers to tackle on their own, or they make wonderful read-alouds for the entire family to enjoy together. Other titles in this series include Attack at the Arena, which discusses ancient Rome, and Peril in the Palace, which covers details regarding Ancient China.

In Problems in Plymouth, Mr. Whittaker sends cousins Patrick and Beth to New England in 1620 AD, where they meet a host of characters from the Mayflower and Plymouth. After a series of adventures and mishaps, Patrick and Beth manage to make it back to their Imagination Station, and return safely to Mr. Whittaker's workshop. In Showdown with the Shepherd, Patrick and Beth visit young King David at the time he fights Goliath and wins!

These are great books to use as an introduction to various historical periods during your history studies. These are also a great alternative to the secular history series, The Magic Tree House. The adventures and information will spark a curiosity that will only be satiated by more reading and research! Highly recommended!
