Perhaps the best thing I can say about the Califone Model CW1 USB Webcam is that after testing it for a month for this review, we continued using it; the unit sits next to the more expensive "Big Box" brand it replaced.

The Webcam is made from ABS plastic, and it has an adjustable base that can double as a clamp to hold it on a computer monitor. The camera boasts a resolution of 640 by 480 pixels and a standard 30 frames per second frame rate. There is a built-in microphone and a focus wheel on the unit. We did not need to focus at all after installing the Webcam.

During our test, the Webcam provided clear video for online classes and Skype calls with no problems or "technical glitches" for which such devices are infamous.

The Model CW1, which sells for $35, is part of a line of technology tools designed for classroom applications, where durability and ease of use are important. For a low-cost Web video solution, the Califone Model CW1 exceeds expectations.
