Home Education 101: A Mentor's Manual and the corresponding Parent Workbook are designed to guide a new homeschooling parent through the process of educating their child at home. Topics include researching the law and support groups in your area, choosing curriculum, organizing your time, learning and teaching styles, preparing dinner, testing and evaluations, teaching tips, organizing your home, and learning from experiences. My Homeschool Planner includes sections for weekly lessons plans, reading lists, projects and achievements, unit study planning sheets, field trip plans, curriculum planning, goal setting, and more.

The mentor's manual used alone can aid anyone wanting to learn more about the process of homeschooling, and it may answer many questions that typically surface during the beginning years of teaching your child at home. Or you could use the manual and the parent handbook together to mentor a parent who is new to homeschooling. They could even be used for a small group study.

This resource is very detailed and is excellent in the area of providing checklists and forms and for providing examples of what to expect in the first and second year of homeschooling. Homeschooling parents who need the structure of a schedule will find this resource extremely useful in creating a plan for the school year. It will also help in providing ideas for organizing your time and your home.

On the other hand, if you are more relaxed in your style of teaching and/or prefer an unschooling method of learning, this may not be the resource for you (although there are many wonderful ideas included in this resource that anyone could use, regardless of their choice of teaching methods). An important factor to mention is the cost of these items. The mentor's manual is $34.99, and the parent workbook is $24.99. The planner sells for $12.99.

These excellent products have a variety of ideas that can benefit anyone beginning their homeschooling journey, especially those who have questions about where to begin or those who might even be questioning their ability to homeschool. If this is you, these products may be just the encouragement you need to feel confident in your decision to teach your child at home.
