Having read Under God by Toby Mac and Michael Tait, I was excited to get to review this book, and it didn't leave me disappointed. The format of this book is written much like a devotional, with a key Scripture that is the central point, as well as a significant section of Scripture in each 3-4 page mini-chapter. It is written with an emphasis on God's providential hand throughout history, linking stories from the Bible with similar, fascinating events from American history. This is not a "light" devotional, with a brief Scripture and a point that are difficult to link together. This book has depth and will challenge readers to look for God's hand in their own lives as they read about great men and women of faith throughout time and history.

This book would be an excellent devotional for the high school student or adult. In a genre where devotional literature is offered to believers like fast food, this book stands out as real nourishment to the soul and encouragement for the challenges of living a life "under God."
