Reggae music, rooted in Jamaica, has a very relaxed, "don't worry, be happy" tempo. When I first put this CD on in our house, everybody was dancing around the living room to the Caribbean rhythm. It is very catchy and draws the listener away from other distractions to dance or sing along. I think this music would be very enriching to a unit study on world cultures. It is also a way of opening up the diverse world of music to music-loving children.

This compilation was collected from various artists, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Jamaica Basic Schools Foundation, a project to benefit Jamaican children. Since I'm from West Virginia, the reggae mix of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" came up lacking. However, my whole family found the rest of the CD delightful.
