No More Diapers ($12.98) is a charming DVD about a little bear named Glen, who decides that he is ready for "big boy underpants". His loving mother and father teach him how to use the toilet and how much fun it is to wear "big boy underpants" instead of diapers. The story is sweet, with a loving relationship between the parents and Glen. There is also a sweet friend who plays with Glen and shares her success with potty training. The delicate topic of potty training is handled honestly but discreetly. It would be appropriate for preschoolers who are ready to take the big step of potty training, but might need a bit of encouragement. The movie also comes with cute stickers to help motivate little tots. You can download a free sticker chart, coloring book pages and a potty training diploma from the ConsumerVision website (www.consumervisiononline.com/downloads.ihtml).
As the mom of young kids who still have the potty training adventure ahead, I liked this video. The characters and their relationships are very sweet, without the rudeness and arrogance seen in so many videos for kids. The story is interesting with a positive message. The additional materials add a nice option for kids who need something tangible to see their progress. I was surprised that the mother and father don't mention using toilet paper to the little bear, although it is seen in the background. It would also be helpful to mention that there will be accidents before the whole process is mastered. But those things can be discussed with your child as you watch the video easily enough. I really liked this video and would recommend it for little guys and gals who are ready for this important step toward independence!
