Homeschool Moms Deserve Grace Too

I know I can’t be the only mom that has a set list of things I must do every single day. I also know I can’t be the only mom that falls short of completing this list, more often than not. 

• Get husband out the door
• Make sure I have my quiet time before the children wake up
• Kids are up; now it’s time for breakfast
• Reheat my hot tea
• School
• Run the errand I forgot about
• Lunch
• Back to school
• Do the workout I’d prefer to skip
• Laundry

Our daily list of responsibilities continue as long as we live, and sometimes it seems like completion is unachievable. Be encouraged, because you are not the only one that can’t seem to get it all done. Usually, I come to you with monthly encouragement and three or four bullet points to help you along your way. Today, the only tip I have is to give yourself the gift of grace.

It is okay if you don’t check off everything on your minimal or massive to-do list. It is also okay if you do exceed every expectation placed by yourself or others. No matter what each day brings, make a commitment to begin and end each day with gratitude. Be thankful to God that you have another day. Be grateful for the strength and ability to get through rough days. Every night, I write a prayer of thanksgiving to God, including a summary of my day.

Please understand, I’m in no way saying you shouldn’t strive to accomplish certain things each day. I am simply imploring you to remove the desire to feel guilty when everything doesn’t get done. Your success as a wife, mother, or homeschool teacher should not be defined by a completed task on a checklist. Just as God grants us grace, we should do the same for our children, husband, homeschool, and ourselves.
