Self-Sauced Chocolate Pudding Cake

Ingredients
  

Batter
  • 1 cup flour (We’ve used all-purpose, whole wheat, and spelt with yummy results.)
  • 2 tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
Sauce
  • ½ cup sugar (Brown sugar can be good for taste.)
  • 2-2½ cups boiling water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa

Method
 

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix in the milk. Spread into a greased casserole/baking dish with at least a 6 cup capacity. (This will boil up and over if the dish is too small.)
  2. Stir together boiling water, sugar, butter, vanilla, and cocoa. Pour sauce over batter.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
