Homestyle Chili - Family Recipe

Course Side Dish

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 large stalks of celery, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 can of mushrooms or 1 cup of fresh mushrooms, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp. ground oregano
  • 1 tbsp. ground cumin (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 can of kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1-8 oz. can tomato sauce

Instructions
 

  • Over medium heat, cook the hamburger, spices and vegetables together until the meat is browned and vegetables are cooked.
  • Add the can of kidney beans and stir.
  • Add the can of diced tomatoes and stir.
  • Add the tomato sauce and stir.
  • Simmer until it is nice and hot, at least 10 minutes or more.
