With three teenagers myself, I often find it difficult to motivate them. I have one son who is very motivated by the thought of making money. Starting a Micro Business for Teens with Carol Topp is the perfect class for him. In just eight lessons, Carol helps middle and high school students learn about the world of micro businesses—what they are and what they can learn from starting one. She encourages teens to learn about their talents and skills and develop a business idea using them. They then narrow their idea into something that is possible for a micro business and develop a business plan, including marketing and financial needs. Through this process, they can determine whether or not starting a micro business is the right course for them. Printable lessons include detailed questions that guide students through formulating and narrowing an idea for a business and the creation of a business plan. I have another son who loves art. Studio Art for Teens with Sharon Jeffus is a great class for him. More than forty lessons are available for middle and high school students to look at the elements and principles of art step by step and master works of art that show technique in media. Projects are presented that reinforce performance of the different techniques and styles of the masters. If a minimum of sixteen lessons is completed, including the lessons that combine literature and art, one credit hour of high school art could be obtained.
