Gifted Child Today is a quarterly magazine for parents, teachers, and others who deal with gifted children. It is peer-reviewed, which means that any articles that are published have been reviewed by heavy hitters in the education field, adding a huge element of reliability to the materials published. Their advisory board is impressively jammed with lots of folks with lots of letters after their names (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.). The issue I reviewed, from Winter 2002, was chock full of thought provoking material. There was a major article about the challenges, barriers, issues and decisions faced by gifted and talented females. Another article explored using gifted students as peer tutors. I was particularly interested in the feature on advanced placement programs. The magazine also offered some reviews of new books in the gifted and talented area.

It should be noted by TOS readers that this is not a magazine with a Christian orientation. It is a secular, academically oriented publication dealing with gifted children. If you seek an exclusively Christian perspective, this magazine is NOT for you. But if you would like to keep up with what is happening in academia, this is a good place to start.
