When our students are struggling, we often have to take a step back and rethink our methods. We need to meet them where they are. Sometimes we need to start at the beginning and build a strong foundation. Students who come to us from other areas of the world often struggle with the English language. Let’s be honest, even those of us who were born in the US sometimes struggle with it. Anna Crisostomo has provided tips and resources for parents who must teach English to children who speak another language in ESL Learning. Eight weeks of online games, printable worksheets, and more are included to help students achieve basic proficiency for an English language class. This particular course begins at level 2, which is a first through fifth grade level.  Reading Remedies with Matthew Glavach is a course for parents with struggling readers. Various approaches to teaching reading, based on learning style, are explored through printable materials and occasional audio resources. More than a dozen units are available, and a new unit posts each month. Though geared toward elementary students, this course can help anyone who is struggling with reading.
