Now that summer is right around the bend, many of us, especially the students, are eager for the break. Before we know it, though, the new school year will be upon us. There are a few ways to take advantage of the summer months that won’t take much time. First, seniors who plan on attending college after graduation will want to work on their college admission forms. This includes the college admission essay. The two-week mini-course Writing: College Admission Essay with Sharon Watson is designed to help the high school student gain an understanding of what college admissions counselors look for in an essay, help the student answer questions that show the college who they are, share critical “do” and “don’t” lists, and help the student gain confidence and reduce the stress associated with submitting the college admission essay. As you, the parent, begin to prepare for your next year, you’ll want to know which classes on SchoolhouseTeachers.com will provide high school credit. Our Academic Weighting for Transcripts page provides a list of courses with suggested weighting for transcripts and others that can qualify if the parent feels it is warranted.
