Speaking in public is one of the most common phobias, though it is typically required of us all at one point or another. Why not learn how to speak well and overcome your fear? Middle and high school students can join Rebekah Bell for Public Speaking. This five-unit course is presented in a video format, along with informative websites and activities that include writing and performing. Students will learn how to present impromptu speeches, expository speeches, informative and current events speeches, and interpretative speeches. Students taking this course will grow as researchers, performers, and speakers. With their new skills in public speaking, students can give a special delivery through Marci Hanks’ How to Write and Produce a Play course. The first semester of this 29-week course is spent writing a play and covering topics such as the type of play, the characters, problems, plot, setting, dialogue, and more. The second semester covers actual play production, including rehearsals, props, costumes, set design and building, etc. Worksheets and slide shows are provided to reinforce learning.
