Open Up the World with Reading

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

Since April is National Poetry Month, Niki Coburn McNeil’s Lapbooking lessons for this month will focus on the poem, “The Walrus and the Carpenter.” She will discuss topics like inference and imagery, along with techniques such as alliteration and personification and elements of conflict, climax, and resolution. Marla Schultz is returning this month with her Literature Kits and will be reading and discussing Island of the Blue Dolphins. Follow the story of Karana who is stranded alone on an island. Read about her trials and see if she is ever able to leave. Michelle Martin’s Music Theory class will learn how to read notes as she teaches about the musical staff. She will also discuss other items found on the musical staff, including time signature, bar lines, and ties.
