Excellent Writing is Within Your Grasp

Students who are looking to improve their writing can achieve their goals through the various writing courses available on SchoolhouseTeachres.com. Using the Benjamin Franklin Writing Method, taught by Cheri Blomquist, middle and high school students can improve their writing skills by imitating the masters; this is the same method employed by Benjamin Franklin. Your students will learn to analyze good literature and apply what they learn to their own writing, focusing on the arrangement and presentation of ideas. This 24-week course will have students borrowing Franklin’s step-by-step study method to improve their writing by studying various genres and authors. Writing with Janice Campbell is another excellent resources. In this course, students in elementary school through high school will again have the opportunity to analyze classic works of literature in order to improve their writing. They will learn how to recognize excellent writing and understand various literary terms and techniques, as well as expand their vocabulary. Each work studied follows a four-week process whereby they will do copywork, analysis, transformation of the work copied, and finally create their own work. More than a dozen self-contained monthly units are available.
