A Thread in the Tapestry

A tapestry is created by the weaving of seemingly unrelated threads. When we look at a single blue thread, we can’t see the end result when that blue is mixed with a myriad of other threads. So, it is sometimes with school subjects. My children sometimes do not see the relationship between science and art or math and reading, but it is there. Perhaps the relationship between reading and spelling is a bit more obvious. Though if we neglect one, we will often run into problems with the other. Reading and spelling have a significant relationship. Join Marla Schultz for Literature Kits as she focuses on a different book with each unit. Call It Courage, All-of-A-Kind Family, Columbus, The Horse and His Boy, The Quiltmaker’s Gift, and The Year of Miss Agnes are just a few of the books explored. Elementary and middle school students will be able connect these books to language arts, hands-on activities, recipes, history and geography, Bible, science, and more. Schoolhouse Spelling provides numerous lists all the way from Pre-K to high school. All levels use age-appropriate words and include various activities and puzzles to reinforce learning. Word lists are drawn from Scripture, classic literature, and famous speeches, and incorporate Charlotte Mason-style copywork for younger students.
