State History from a Christian Perspective provides a 30-lesson, teacher-directed course or your choice of a six-week or one-semester independent study guide for seventh through twelfth grades. It includes lesson plans and comes with a state history student booklet (all 50 states are available). If you are teaching more than one student, each student will need his or her own student booklet. Other materials needed by the student include a three ring binder, notebook dividers, plain paper, assorted color paper, notebook paper, a hole punch, a copy of your state constitution (optional), and free travel brochures from your state.
During this course, the student will construct a keepsake notebook about their state. They will learn the history of their state and how to use a variety of resources to find information. Topics presented include interesting facts, border states and geographic features, land regions, early settlement, Indians and explorers, government, industry, plants and animals, sports and recreation, and more. A guide is included showing how to correlate this program with My State History Funbook and State History from a Christian Perspective for Grades 3-6. The instructions are clear and it is logical for a student to work independently. Elective activities are included to adjust the level of difficulty for the student.
Nearly all students will enjoy this excellent course. Check out www.statehistory.net to find out more about A Helping Hand and Joy Dean.
