The All By Myself Series is a collection of videos designed as a "Show Me How" series for children 18 months to 5 years, depending on the video. By modeling behavior with age-appropriate children, these videos excite your children to learn and do more "all by themselves." "Wonderful good," as they say here in Pennsylvania Dutch country, for young children and "especially nice" for visual learners, like so many special needs kids.
Both videos feature Buddy the Ladybug, who serves as narrator, instructor, and certainly encourager to your children. While Getting Dressed was created for the 18 months to 3 years age group, Taking Care of My Pets was aimed at 2- to 5-year-olds. Although these videos certainly are delightful and entertaining, to say the least, the series seeks to foster independence and confidence rather than to simply entertain. My Down syndrome son loved the Getting Dressed video when he was younger; now at age 7 with a few pets around the house, he is constantly requesting the Taking Care of My Pets video! Even my 8-year-old can?t resist taking a peek when his brother is watching.
Getting Dressed is filled with young children modeling - you guessed it - getting dressed. Taking Care of My Pets features feeding, watering, exercising, and loving your pet. A small segment speaks of taking your pet to the vet as well. These videos have won multiple awards, and there is really nothing I would do to improve them except, maybe, request that they speed up production! I truly look forward to seeing I Can Help (Volume 3), Getting Ready for Bed (Volume 4), and Going to School (Volume 5), coming soon.
