The Lest We Forget CD contains choral renditions of thirteen patriotic and religious songs, recorded by the Neely family. The Neely Team reminds me of the Family Von Trapp, with beautiful harmony and talented musicians throughout the family. They definitely have a family ministry, with all members participating.

Most of the songs on the Lest We Forget album are sung by the older girls in the family, but a few feature the entire family, including the younger children. The voices on the recording are primarily female, as the Neely family has eight daughters and only two sons. Family members play most of the instruments used in the recording themselves, and some of the songs were written or arranged by the older daughters. The music ranges from traditional patriotic music to new, original songs.

The songs included in Lest We Forget are:

    1. Patriotic Medley (This is My Country, Dixie, Yankee Doodle, This Land Is Your Land)
    2. America the Beautiful, God Bless America
    3. Patriot's Prayer
    4. Lord, Please Forgive
    5. Lord, Let Us Weep Again
    6. Revive Us
    7. For America
    8. Turn The Tide
    9. Armed Services Medley
    10. Patriot's Honor (Story)
    11. Patriot's Honor
    12. Godly Heroes
    13. Prayer of Dependence
    14. God of Our Fathers

This album is very pleasant to listen to. The music is performed well, and their voices blend together nicely. Some of the songs sound more professional than other songs, but they are all enjoyable. You can hear samples of many of the songs at their website, by visiting their store.

Families who prefer contemporary music styles may not like the choral style of this album. My older children didn't care for the music very much, but my husband and I enjoyed it. Even though it is not my children's preferred style, we feel it is important to expose them to more classic musical styles. We will definitely enjoy listening to it at each patriotic holiday. Perhaps our teens will change their mind after a little more exposure.
