Line by Line: Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs Review by Karen Yuen

Line by Line: Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs is a treat! This book will keep busy elementary students engaged long enough to learn how to pronounce "brachiosaurus" and "velociraptor" flawlessly, while creating wonderful drawings to boot.

Cindy Mauro Reisenauer walks children through basic drawing tools, composition tips, and tips on how to shade and add color to their artwork. She then introduces young readers to five interesting dinosaurs as she models how to draw them line-by-line. Each dinosaur includes a "facts" page with great information. Our family didn't agree with the dates listed as to when these dinosaurs lived, but I would not discount this fun book for that alone. One of the things we really liked about the line-by-line drawing method modeled by Cindy was that kids are shown how to draw each part of the dinosaur without adding extraneous lines that later require erasing.

This great book can be easily managed independently by early readers. It's a great book to bring along on a trip to entertain and engage young minds while traveling. This book would also make a wonderful gift. I highly recommend this book, and I plan to look for other titles by this author. Happy drawing!
