Most people are familiar with all of the big stories from the Bible. The stories of Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, and Moses (among others) are all regularly told in churches and Sunday school classes across the world. However, they are often told in isolation, without the redeeming thread of God woven into their telling. The Big God Story attempts to do just that.

This 36-page storybook is for young children around the ages of 4 through 8. The author takes one or two pages to tell the well-known Bible stories but ends each one pointing out that the people in the story were still waiting for the promise of God and that God always keeps his promises. After the book tells the major stories of the Old Testament and describes the 400 years of silence between the Old and New Testaments, the story continues with the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, proclaiming the truth that Jesus is God's promise to us and our Redeemer.

This is a lovely storybook. The illustrations are subtle, letting the words in the book tell the story. Many of us have more Bible storybooks than we can count, but because of the emphasis on God fulfilling his promise through Christ, I think The Big God Story is a great addition to any home library.
