The Ice Hop Game is a very high quality game with a colorful sturdy box that contains 1 instruction booklet, 35 Ice Hop Cards, 17 Penguin Cards, 4 Penguin Pawns, and 1 game board. The children at our house loved the little Penguins. They are nice quality and very cute. Basically, the cards are played first, and a Hopping Path is created using the Ice Hop Cards as ice chunks in the Hopping Path. At the end of the game, when all the cards have been played, you then use the game board to total up your score. I found that a little awkward. I just felt the game board could have been incorporated more into the game.

This is an addition game, and according to the box it is for ages 4 and up. In my estimation, unless the players are going to have a lot of adult help, the age range should start at age 6 or 7. You really need to have the concept of both addition and subtraction to adequately grasp the game.

The retail price of this game is $24. My family loves games, and we own an entire closet full of them. We really wanted to love this game. However, although it is well made and appealing to the eye, the game does not provide enough enjoyment to make it worth spending that much money in my opinion.
