Looking for the perfect bedtime story? Starlight Sailor by James Mayhew is the one! Once you've opened the cover, you'll be drawn into a magical world where dragons fly and mermaids sing. Tuck your child into bed, read aloud in your softest voice, and invite your child to dream the dreams of starlight wishes.

James Mayhew's smooth, rhyming text transports you to another place--into the realm of a little boy's dream. Sail alongside a slithering sea serpent, build a sky-high sand castle, meet a majestic unicorn, and ride upon friendly lions and magnificent dragons! Jackie Morris creates a dreamy aura with her gorgeous, jewel-toned, watercolor illustrations. Together, she and Mayhew have created a charming, imaginative world that is sure to captivate all who read this book!

I think Starlight Sailor will appeal to both young boys and girls, especially between the ages of 2-6. It starts off with a very familiar poem: "Star light, star bright, First star I see tonight . . . ," and its pages are filled with knights, swords and dragons, unicorns, princesses and mermaids--something for everyone! Children may also enjoy following the instructions at end of the book for assembling their very own paper boats.

If you're like me and have a soft spot in your heart for all things fantasy, especially anything involving unicorns and dragons, then I highly recommend adding this beautiful hardback to your library. It will be $16.99 well spent, for I am almost certain you will read it to your children again and again.
