Reading Skill Builders (3rd Grade) Review by Lyria Moore

Reading Skill Builders (3rd Grade) really lives up to its name. Based on a tried and tested real-world method, this book will give your children the practice they need to excel in reading comprehension.

The book has 20 chapters, each dealing with a certain reading skill. Chapters are divided into three sections. The first section is an introductory section. The next two sections are practice runs to help children understand how to implement what was taught in the introductory section. The concept came out of a school in Harlem that wanted to help its children achieve high scores on reading comprehension tests. The method they came up with is explained in this book. It has helped the school achieve and maintain success, and it will help your student to be successful as well.

This book can be easily incorporated in your regular language arts teaching. The pages are ready to be torn out and copied for multiple students to use. The students can read along with you as you go through the introduction section. They might need your help in the first practice passage, but the second one should be a breeze!

With all the help this book affords, your child will soar to a greater understanding of how to break down a passage and really understand what it says. The passages used are non-threatening and will be enjoyable for your 3rd grader. This book would be a wonderful addition to your language arts teaching.
