Bees are pretty much sacred at our house! My oldest son is a spelling champion who competed in the National Spelling Bee in 2007, so we pretty much love all things related to bees - and hence, we love honey. But you don't have to be a spelling champ who sees bees in his sleep to love honey! The medicinal value of honey has been known for thousands of years. Mothers have long given their children a spoonful of honey to soothe a sore throat or ease a cough. A very clever company, Bee M.D., has created an all-natural product based on the same concept.

Bee M.D. Throat Drops are shaped like a traditional cough drop but instead of menthol and chemicals, their main ingredient is honey! We tried both flavors, Natural Honey and Honey Lemon, and found both to be soothing for sore, itchy throats, and mild coughs (my poor husband got a cold just in time for this review - what dedication!). The drops are a little stickier than other cough drops which makes them easier on the mouth, but a little tricky to open. We found that keeping them in the freezer easily remedied this problem.

My kids often balk at the strong flavor of cough drops, but the Bee M.D. drops were gentle and soothing enough for my little guys. And after you've allowed these wonderful little natural miracles to ease your sore throat, don't forget to check out the Bee M.D. website (www.sponsorabee.com). You can sponsor your own little bee as he busily makes honey, play bee related games, or just learn more about these marvelous little creatures! So when your honey gets sick, don't bee afraid to buzz on down to the pharmacy hive and bee amazed by Bee M.D.!
